MUSEUM OF THE MOON

I recently attended the 'Museum of the Moon' exhibited in the Painted Hall of Greenwich- it was spectacular. The exhibit contains a giant replica moon, created by artist Luke Jerram, suspended on a scaffold in the middle of Greenwich's famous Painted Hall. Often compared to the Sistine Chapel, the painted hall is a magnificent feat of oil painting, and, paired with this almost unimaginable moon, it makes for a breathtaking experience.

This exhibition particularly interested me as a feat of mixed-media curatorship. Jerram has chosen to display this digital-looking stillhoette against a decedant and ancient backdrop. I loved the juxtoposition between the two works and i would love to emulate it somehow in a painting- or even emulate the themes of juxtoposing old and new works.
